20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

1. Alan Rickman - Severus Snape

Harry Potter Voldemort
Warner Bros.

Despite the many great performances in these movies, it doesn't feel like anyone else could've been number one.

Since Severus Snape is possibly the most complex character in the entire Harry Potter saga, a strong performance was urgently needed for him. Luckily, the late and great Alan Rickman was brought on-board and he did unbelievably good work as Snape. In fact, he should've been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the final film.

With his tragic, emotional and beautifully subtle performance, Alan Rickman brought Snape's arc to life in a heart-breaking manner. His performance during the Snape's memories scene in Deathly Hallows Part 2, as well as his delivery of "Always", is the greatest acting moment in all of Harry Potter.

Rickman used his substantial acting chops and iconic voice to absolute perfection while playing Snape and filled every line with subtext and nuance. Additionally, Rickman was every bit as intimidating as Snape was meant to be and, when the script called for it, he was very funny too.

As acting performances go, Alan Rickman as Severus Snape really was pure magic and it's hard to imagine this franchise ever seeing a better performance.
