Somewhat typically of a Terry Gilliam film, 12 Monkeys suffers a little when you try and follow the plot perfectly, but the film remains a triumph of performance and has a genius twist that makes it irresistible even now.

Whether the new TV show can live up to the original in the long-run is one question, but why it even needs to when you can still go and dip into Gilliam's dystopian vision of inevitable doom is quite another.
