20. Accidental Mandarin Misdirection

If it wasn't for the silliness of Iron Man 3, we might still be looking forward to how Marvel might introduce the complex and flat-out controversial Mandarin, the scourge of Tony Stark who represented a threat that few other villains could manage. Sadly, Trevor Slattery all but destroyed that (no matter how insistent anyone is about Kyllian being the real Mandarin, or how much Marvel hint that we're not done with the Mandarin yet.) But he wasn't the first Mandarin appearance in the series, as the first Iron Man features a terrorist group called "The Ten Rings"- their name an obvious reference to the Mandarin's magical rings.
