20 Craziest Stunts In Movie History

6. Joe Canutt - Ben Hur

Rarely does a Christmas go by without Ben Hur appearing at some point on television - it's a staple ingredient of the festive season, as safe and predictable as the Queen's speech and presents under the Christmas tree. While parents often enjoying sitting through the long slog to the end credits, few classic Hollywood epics are as likely to send the kids to sleep. Long-winded it may be, but the stunning chariot race sequence at least breaks up the monotony - stunt legend Yakima Cannut directed the sequence along with Andrew Marton but it was Cannut's son Joe who took the reigns - literally - and performed some of the hair-raising stunts. The moment where he is flung from the chariot could have cost him his life - fortunately he got away with an injury to his chin.
