10. Various - Who Can Kill a Child? (1976)

02.05.2013can kill 1 Horrifying 1970s Spanish fare from director Narciso Ibanez. There is not just one creepy child - there are hordes of them! Tom and Evelyn, a British couple, run into them whilst they are taking a last vacation before their own child is born. The island is full of silent, grim faced children - not an adult in sight. The realisation dawns on Tom and Evelyn that these children are violent and have killed every adult on the island. Tom kills a child that is presenting an overt threat to him and Evelyn's unborn child kills her from within. Armed with a gun, Tom tries to leave the island and takes some children down by gunfire. The Spanish authorities arrive and shoot Tom, leaving the children to look all innocent and then kill the police. At the end we see a boat of children heading for mainland Spain... A cult classic with a reputation for excellence, Who Can Kill a Child? is nevertheless rarely seen but it is well worth the effort to track it down. Plot parallels can be drawn with Children of the Corn but this is much deeper and much more satisfying horror film. The tension is built up slowly into a terrifying climax. Can the adults overcome their disgust at killing children in their quest for survival? Using a human body as a pinada gives you a clue as to the creepiness of these kids. They can spread their murderous conduct to other children by looking them in the eyes or merely touching them. To answer the question Who Can Kill a Child? I could quite easily snuff these evil little creeps out but they are so numerous, it would take major heavy weaponry and even then the little buggers would probably outwit me. These creepy kids are set to conquer the world!
