5. M:I2 Was A Milestone For Metallica

"Do ya bury me when I'm gone? Do you teach me while I'm here? Just as soon as I belong? Then it's time I disappear."

"I Disappear," which appears on the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack, is the first film song by the heavy metal band. It was also their only standalone single and their last song to feature bassist Jason Newsted.

But there's one even more significant thing about it. An early version of the song popped up in 2000 on Napster, a famous (or notorious) file-sharing site. Metallica sued and won. Several other artists followed Metallica's example, and the lawsuits essentially killed Napster. The battle over file-sharing in general, though, was only getting started.
