20 Depraved Movies Only Truly Sick Individuals Could Enjoy
13. Island Of Death (1976)
Nico Mastorakis’ Island Of Death may not be one of the most famous video nasties, but it certainly is one of the most twisted films on the list, wallowing in an endless series of inventively repellent acts of degradation.
In the film, British couple Christopher (Bob Belling) and Celia (Jane Ryall) arrive on the island of Mykonos as if they are normal newlyweds. However, it soon becomes apparent that their goal is a nefarious one – to punish those they see as impure and perverted, from the promiscuous to the homosexual.
With rape and murder running through the project like blood in its veins, Island Of Death is certainly not a film that is concerned with making friends. But then, it’s not supposed to be involving, it’s supposed to be the opposite. Heroine-addicted lesbian barmaids, mutual masturbation, effeminate pederastical relationships, decadent middle aged women enjoying Golden Showers, it’s all here. A twist is gleefully blurted out in the final moments, paired with a terrifically sadistic demise, and that’s it, the film ends. An odd testament to the golden age of shock.
