20 Most Epic Character Introductions In Movies

19. Jesus - The Big Lebowski (1998)

The Coen's cult classic certainly isn't lacking when it comes to memorable characters, but the best entrance of the lot goes to John Turtorro's purple jumpsuit-wearing bowling enthusiast. In the space of just one four minutes scene, the character is almost fully developed through slow-motion, music, flashback and dialogue.

From his overly-decorated left hand to the purple ensemble and hairnet combo, as well as an interesting warmup technique, Jesus is instantly propelled to the top of The Big Lebowski's rogues gallery. The music marries perfectly with the character as he bowls, breaks out into a spot of cringe-inducing dancing, and caps it all off with a cocky strut that would make a peacock blush. John Goodman's Walter fills his bowling buddies in on Jesus' background, making him seem downright creepy as opposed to just wildly eccentric. Turtorro delivers his strange threats in a thick accent, generating an amusingly incredulous response from The Dude. After such a memorable introduction, one thing was for sure; nobody f**ks with the Jesus.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
