20 Fails That Nearly Killed The Marvel Film Universe
4. Liam Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleston Almost Played Thor
During the press rounds for Thor, Chris Hemsworth was open about the fact that his brother Liam also auditioned for the part and was initially the better-favoured of the two. Chris returned for a second audition and completely blew Kenneth Branagh away, snatching the role back from his younger brother. Even more fascinating is the fact that the actor who would eventually play Loki, Tom Hiddleston, auditioned for the part of Thor, and his screen test was even released (pictured above). Why It Would've Ruined The MCU: For starters, Liam has yet to really prove himself as an actor, and we suspect he'd just be too baby-faced to convincingly play Thor, especially when his older, more rugged-looking brother was also in contention for the part. The right brother definitely won out. As for Hiddleston, though his screen test is considerably more convincing than we would ever have expected (and he got pretty ripped for the audition), he just isn't Thor. Had he got Thor, we might've actually ended up with Josh Hartnett as Loki, and considering how incredible he is as Thor's brother, that would've been a major loss for us all.
