15. Duncan Jones
Duncan Jones is one of the most talented new science-fiction directors of the past decade, having burst onto the scene back in 2009 with the imaginative sci-fi thriller Moon. Two years later, Jones followed up on his first feature with yet another sci-fi adventure, Source Code. Both films were financial successes, and have received considerable praise from critics. So whats next for Mr. Jones? Well, in 2006, video game developer Blizzard Entertainment announced that they were teaming up with Legendary Pictures to bring the popular MMORPG franchise Warcraft to the big screen. After the departure of the films initial director, Sam Raimi, Legendary Pictures hired Duncan Jones as a replacement. Like Justin Kurzel with Assassins Creed, it seems that Jones has a chance to show audiences that video game film adaptations have the potential to be taken seriously. Will he rise to the challenge and deliver something special? Or is Warcraft fated to someday fall to the bottom of the Wal-Mart bargain bin? I suppose we can only hope for the best. Either way, lets keep an eye on Warcraft, and Duncan Jones.
