Pedro Almodovar is easily one of Europe's finest and most gifted cinematic auteurs and Talk to Her is probably his masterpiece. Considering his amazing body of work, that's saying something.
Talk to Her is a film that's like a great novel. It's overloaded with ingenious symbolism, hidden meanings, clever references, brilliant details and complex themes, meaning you'll see it in a different way every time you watch it. It's a movie that's directed with an almost Kubrick-like attention to detail by Almodovar and as such although it's an enthralling film to watch, it's even more so to analyse.
It's a transgressive, insanely messed up piece that will shock audiences yet it's also a stunningly beautiful melodrama, making this a movie that really will tear viewers apart. This exceptionally rewarding movie is easily one of the finest films of the 2000s and an absolute must-see for everyone, whether you're an Almodovar fan or not. Just remember to go in knowing as little as possible.
