20 Gory Movie Moments That Left Horror Fans Cheering
11. The Death Of Jason Voorhees - Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984)
If 1982's Friday The 13th Part 3 is where the franchise first found its swagger, then part four is where it perfected it. If somebody was unfamiliar with Jason Voorhees and the F13 films and you could only play one movie for them, this would be it. The Final Chapter is like a compilation or a best of of the entire series. Everything that this type of movie is known for is on full bloody display; horny teenagers, drug-using, skinny dipping and machetes to the face.
The Final Chapter also introduces us to a memorable character by the name of Tommy Jarvis (played by Corey Feldman) - aa nerdy young kid with an affinity for making masks and make-up effects. During the finale of the film, Jason has murdered just about everybody and has his sights set on the Jarvis family. Tommy isn't having any of this, he promptly shaves his head (to look like a young Jason) and basically takes a butcher knife to Jasons cranium over and over again in brutal slow motion.
Obviously Jason doesn't stay dead, but this was still a properly gruesome (temporary) sendoff for one of the greatest slasher icons of all time. All praises due to the great Tom Savini and his iconic effects work.
