9. Ash Vs Ashs Hand - Evil Dead 2 (1987)
Evil Dead 2 came along a whopping six years after its predecessor. A long time for a horror sequel, but director Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell (reprising his role as Ash Williams) returned as eager as ever to make another film. And fans should thank their lucky stars that they did, or else we would never have been given the wonderfully wacky horror-comedy that is Dead By Dawn (no one ever seems to call it that anymore).
In the film, shortly after graphically murdering his possessed girlfriend (Poor Ash can never catch a break) he too is possessed, or rather his hand is. This provokes a rather comical fight where Ash smashes dishes over his head against his own will. But these darkly humorous shenanigans quickly transition into the most graphic scene of the film.
In due course Ash realizes that his possessed hand has to be removed. After a tumultuous fight he ultimately stabs his hand to the floorboard before taking it off with his signature chainsaw. As he's removing the hand with a surprising lack of personal pain, blood squirts out all over the place as he maniacally laughs in shock.
