20 Gory Movie Moments That Left Horror Fans Cheering
1. The Lawnmower Zombie Massacre - Braindead (1992)
Before The Lord Of The Rings, director Peter Jackson rose to substantial fame with this gory and bloody cult classic - Braindead (aka Dead/Alive). This is Jackson at his most frenzied and demented. The movie features a rabid Sumatran rat-monkey, a pack of zombies, and even a kung-fu priest.
The film follows Lionel (Timothy Balme), a Mama's boy who has the unwanted honor of having to look after his overbearingly evil mother. He also falls in love with a local girl and in a moment of intentional sabotage of one of their dates, his mother is bitten by a mysterious creature that ends up zombifying her.
While there are plenty of gory moments throughout the film, Jackson saved the bloodiest bits for last. During the films climax, a mob of wretched zombies break into Lionels home, forcing the hero to eviscerate them all with a lawnmower, which Jackson shows in all of its gruesome glory.
With that being said, Peter, for the love of horror fans everywhere, please return to your roots and make another gorefest. You've been gone for far too long!
