20 Greatest Direct Sequels Ever Made

15. Evil Dead II

Back To The Future II
Rosebud Releasing

Moving away from the more conventional horror aspects of the original and injecting more jet-black humor and slapstick comedy into the mix, Evil Dead II both solidified Sam Raimi's reputation as one of cinema's most exciting up-and-comers and created one of the greatest and most influential horror movies of all time in the process.

With a much higher budget than the first movie, Raimi is able to really cut loose and crafts a stylish, kinetic, frequently hilarious and increasingly gory sequel that manages to be both satirical and surreal at the same time, with Bruce Campbell's charismatic performance solidifying Ash as one of the horror genre's most prominent figures.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
