"As you wish." "As you wish," is one of the most memorable and romantic lines from The Princess Bride, no small feat for a film as intensely quotable and fluffy as this one. It's what Westley says to Buttercup as she's ordering him around while struggling with her feelings for him. But when he says this line, what he's really doing is telling her that he loves her. By having the film end on it, with the grandfather saying it to the grandson, they take some of the magic from the fairy tale world and let it seep into the reality of the framing story. It's a clever way to not only integrate the two elements of the film, but also to end it on an extraordinary positive note.
