20 Greatest Moments From Spider-Man Movies
1. The Doc Ock Train Fight - Spider-Man 2
But far and away the single best moment from any Spider-Man movie is Spider-Man 2's masterfully crafted and extremely affecting battle between Spidey and Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) atop a train.
In addition to battling Doc Ock, Spidey also has to rescue passengers who are being flung by Octavius from the elevated train they're fighting on top of, and once Octavius destroys the train's brakes, the superhero has to use his sheer might to prevent a catastrophe.
Spidey ends up standing at the front of the train and using his webbing to slow the train down before it reaches the end of the track, in turn using every drop of strength and fight in his being.
Peter then collapses, where he's saved by the citizens in the train, who carry him into the carriage in a Christ-like pose before universally agreeing to keep his superhero identity secret.
While it's easy to scoff at how such a scene would play out today with smartphones and the like, this really typifies the appealing earnestness of the Raimi films, which saw the good in the everyday person while also offering the most persuasive cinematic testament to Spidey's heroism.
Even as subsequent Spider-Man films have become more technologically advanced, they've never been able to top the brilliance of this all-timer superhero movie moment.
