10. The Truth Is Finally Revealed - Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
One of the best things about the Harry Potter books was their penchant for ingenious plot twists. This twist from the third book - that Sirius Black was innocent and is then a benevolent godfather figure to Harry - is one of the best from the books and it follows that it became one of the best bits of storytelling in the films too.
It is a huge shame that the backstory of the Marauders was left out but other than that, the Shrieking Shack scene in the Prisoner of Azkaban is terrific.
Thanks to the superb performances from Gary Oldman, David Thewlis and Timothy Spall as Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew (the one who actually committed the murders Sirius was imprisoned for) respectively, as well as Steve Kloves' typically assured writing, this scene was just as good on-screen as it was on the page.
It's an emotionally powerful and uproariously satisfying scene that makes for one of Prisoner of Azkaban's best.
