20 Greatest Sidekicks In Film History

5. Watts - Some Kind Of Wonderful

In many ways, Watts is sort of what Duckie from Pretty in Pink should have been. Both of them were in love with their best friends, who were in turn totally oblivious and blinded by crushes on people in a much higher class in the high school social hierarchy. But while Duckie blows up at Andie in probably not the most productive way, Watts is actually a very good friend to Keith. She helps him out in his quest to win over Amanda Jones, because she cares about him so much that she just wants him to be happy. Luckily for her (well, both of them really), he stops being an idiot and realizes that he does in fact have feelings for Watts. For good reason too; Watts is just an all-around cool person, and Mary Stuart Masterson pulled off 80s punk drummer chic like no one else.
