This might be a controversial opinion, but it needs to be said: Samwise Gamgee is like a million times better than Frodo. He's loyal and far more intelligent than he seems, and throughout the entire series of three films he remains laser-focused on the task at hand. Destroying the ring is what's important, and he takes his duty to accompany Frodo all the way to the end of the line very seriously. Especially since most of the time it seems like he has to drag Frodo to Mordor kicking and screaming. Maybe some of this has to do with the fact that he's not under the tremendous weight of the ring, but still. Who was the one who said that they probably couldn't trust Gollum? Good old Sam. Frodo never would have made it out of the Shire without his trusty mate by his side, and to that end, the world owes a debt of gratitude to Mr. Samwise Gamgee.
