Ever wondered if perhaps the scary serial killer-looking backroad hicks in all those horror movies are actually nothing but friendly, misunderstood guys looking to help?

That’s the brilliant conceit behind this comedy horror from director Eli Craig, following the eponymous loveable West Virginian hillbillies (Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine) who are on vacation at their dilapidated cabin. When they run into a group of preppy college kids, a series of unfortunate accidents leads it to look like they’re the ones responsible.

It brilliantly plays around with the tropes and clichés fans will have come to expect from such a teen horror, providing plenty of in-jokes, great death scenes for the gore-hounds out there and a surprisingly sweet side to it, too.
