One of the less well-advertised Joss Whedon films to be filmed in the same year as the first mega-blockbuster-behemoth Avengers, In Your Eyes paired up-and-coming star Zoe Kazan with the handsome one out of Cloverfield, Michael Stahl-David, as total strangers on the opposite sides of the country who can nonetheless feel that the other is experiencing. Whedon wrote the script, which sounds suspiciously similar to the Wachowskis upcoming Netflix series Sense8, but it was directed by Brin Hill, who previously helmed the sports movie Ball Dont Lie starring Ludacris that nobody saw. Only marginally more people saw IN Your Eyes, which was released on VOD two years after it was filmed. A paranormal romance, the two leads discover they have an inexplicable connection from an early age that lets them share experiences and thoughts without ever actually meeting each other. And then they decide to track each other down! Its a bit of a syrupy, silly premise, but Whedons dialogue and character work carry it through.
