Release Date: August 15th Regardless of how many people might sneer at the old man action ensemble franchise, audiences are still engaged enough to spend money on it, and that has clearly bred enough confidence to confirm even more sequels (with Pierce Brosnan signed on for number four.) The plot isn't exactly important, but this time sees the return of the group's co-founder, Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson) who went rogue, and was killed off (clearly without success) who is intent on wiping the group out. So far so by the numbers, but as with the first two films the pleasure of the franchise comes more in the cast than substance, and the new names this time out are just as alluring: Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Kelsey Grammer standing out most. The Selling Point: The cast, of course, and the nostalgic pleasure of tapping into an era of action movies that only exists now in parody and pastiche. The Concerns: Diluting any franchise down to a single selling point inevitably means that the audience will diminish each time (consider the Paranormal Activity series), and it's only a matter of time until the franchise is basically just a series of cameo reveals without any story at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bPJrbzjLls
