It's not uncommon for films to keep their protagonist and antagonist apart for long stretches of the story, as it can brilliantly heighten the anticipation for when they finally come together. But they do usually come together, an aspect not shared by The Fifth Element.

Luc Besson's movie is as batsh*t crazy as it gets, even for a sci-fi romp set 300 years in the future, and there are far stranger things involved than not bringing the hero and the villain together. That being said, it is still odd to this day that Bruce Willis' Korben Dallas never interacted with Gary Oldman's Korg.

Dallas was an incredibly central part of the story, and even had everyone trying to be him in order to get to Fhloston and get their hands on the powerful MacGuffin stones. He was integral in defeating Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Korg, and he managed to do it without ever laying eyes on him.

They were in and around each other in the hotel on Fhloston, and they missed crossing paths by a fraction of a second at one point, but were kept apart throughout the whole thing. It's hard to say what is more disappointing, the fact that Dallas and Korg never shared the screen, or that Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman never did.
