20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies

5. Schultz Kills Calvin Candie (Django Unchained)

Tarantino has said in interviews that Schultz is something of a control freak: he absolutely needs to be in control of any given situation, and this ultimately leads to his death late in the movie. After Schultz pays up for Eskimo Joe and the paperwork is completed, Calvin Candie asks for a handshake to formally seal the deal. Schultz, clearly disgusted by everything that Candie stands for, simply can't bring himself to do so, instead walking up to Candie and pulling a concealed pistol from his jacket, which he uses to fatally shoot Candie through the chest. As everyone reels from Schultz's unexpected action, he simply quips, "I'm sorry, I couldn't resist", before being blown away by the shotgun of one of Candie's associates. Schultz clearly wasn't in his right mind after Candie provoked him with the handshake, but still, was his murder of Candie really worth laying down his own life?
