20 Incredible Film Performances That Didn't Get The Credit They Deserved

20. Amy Adams - Enchanted (2007)

Amy Adams is one of the most gifted and consistent actresses working today, proven by the fact that she has five Academy Award nominations to her name before her 40th birthday. Yet one of the best performances in an already-distinguished career is also one of the most overlooked, which may have something to do with the fact that it came in a live-action Disney fairytale. Enchanted maintained a difficult balance between smart comedy and overly-saccharine Disney fare, with Adams' infectious enthusiasm overcoming the many cliched elements of the story. Grossing over $340m worldwide, Adams' star-making turn proved that she could be a viable leading lady in studio pictures. Although her performance picked up a Golden Globe nomination, it was largely ignored during the remainder of awards season. Commercial movies tend to be at a disadvantage when it comes to dishing out statues, which is a real shame as the performance stands as a testament to the versatility of one of the most talented actresses of her generation.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
