20 James Bond References You Might Have Missed In Die Another Day

15. Mirrors In The Lab

As Pierce Brosnan's James Bond enters the secret lower reaches of La Clinica Alvarez off the coast of Los Organos, Cuba, he passes a series of rotating mirrors that reflect models of DNA strands on the wall opposite him. The lighting is low and sinister, recalling a very similar instance from Bond's past.

In The Man With The Golden Gun (1974), both gangster, Rodney (Marc Lawrence) and later Roger Moore's Double-0 Seven enter a darkened and disorientating house of fun belonging to Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee), caught like rats in a trap. The literal house of chills, thrills, and spills is equipped with rotating mirrors that make the experience even more unnerving.

Just like Bond's entry into La Clinica Alvarez, the British agent passes a similar set of rotating mirrors that reflect such striking images as Al Capone, a gun-toting cowboy, and a shrieking skeleton.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
