8. The Return Of The Jedi Was Kept Secret As A Horror Film
Nowadays, movie fans are used to incredible secrecy and contractually tight-lipped actors. You've only to look at the situation leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to get a sense of how desperate film-makers and studios are to keep the details of their projects under wraps. But something similar was at play in the early 80s, during the filming and production of 1983's Return Of The Jedi. By then, Star Wars was so insanely popular that keeping it unknown was a massive priority. And so the whole film was shot under the working title Blue Harvest, a supposed horror film with the tag line Horror Beyond Imagination. Not only that, but the film reel and crew clothing (including caps and t-shirts) all used this title and tag line. Interestingly, this is where the first entry in the Family Guy Star Wars parody trilogy takes its name.
