Since Saw has been immortalised for its blood and guts, Lionsgate decided to use the iconic horror franchise for a noble cause. For most of the sequels, the studio set up a blood drive promotion that allowed cinema goers to see the latest film in the series for free. All they had to do was donate a pint of blood to the American Red Cross. Over the years, this promotion has helped the Red Cross collect a whopping 120,000 pints of blood.

Although many movie promotions can be regarded as mere gimmicks, it's reassuring that Lionsgate is using Saw for something righteous. Even though there will always be viewers who perceive Saw as artless schlock, it has helped save thousands of patients throughout the United States.
