20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Harry Potter

15. Director Alfonso Cuaron Was Contractually Obliged Not To Swear In Front Of The Young Actors (The Prisoner Of Azkaban)

Alfonso Cuaron was always considered a left-field choice to helm a Harry Potter film, especially considering that his previous film, Y Tu Mama Tambien, was an adult road movie with a ton of crude sexual references and some explicit nudity as well. The choice proved to be wise in the end, of course, but that didn't stop the movie's producers from fearing that Cuaron's filmmaking sensibilities (considering that he co-wrote Tambien) might inform his personality on set. As such, there was a clause in the director's contract which forbade him from swearing on the set of The Prisoner Of Azkaban in front of the child actors, though it's not publicly known if there were any penalties or stricter terms tied to this. It didn't stop Cuaron from having one adult conversation with lead Daniel Radcliffe, though: when the actor had to pretend to be in awe, the director simply told him to imagine he's seeing Cameron Diaz in a G-string. Apparently, it worked.
