12. Wolverine 3
What Is It? Something of an adaptation of Old Man Logan, Wolverine 3 (which will have no direct plot links to either of the previous films) will be Hugh Jackman's final go-round in the role, seeing Logan and Patrick Stewart's Professor X on a mission in one version of the incredibly convoluted X-Men timeline.
When's It Out? 2nd March (UK), 3rd March (US)
Why Will It Be Awesome? This is the final hurrah for Jackman as Wolverine, ending a seventeen-year, nine-movie run as one of the defining characters in superhero cinema. And what better way to end it than on the lauded comic book arc of an aged Logan? It's going to be a rough adaptation given how much of the graphic novel uses characters Fox doesn't have the right to, but the idea of Wolverine isolated and alone is a tantalising one.
Any Concerns? The X-Men franchise has always been a bit hit-and-miss, but the Wolverine sub-series can't even really claim that. Origins was a painfully shoddy misfire and The Wolverine, which was also directed by this film's James Mangold, was only better by nature of being totally forgettable. And both of these were also based loosely on key character arcs too.
