Granted, your writer has a huge soft spot for both Strangers films, but the upcoming third entry in this franchise definitely has plenty of intrigue to it.

Initially pegged as an outright reboot of the IP, The Strangers: Chapter 1 has since been confirmed to exist within the same continuity as its predecessors. Directed by A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and Deep Blue Sea's Renny Harlin, this is the first installment in a trilogy of pictures that were actually all filmed at the same time - with rumblings that all three movies could be released in 2024.

As for the plot, The Strangers: Chapter 1 finds a couple - played by Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez - tormented by the nefarious trio of masked killers during a stay at a remote Airbnb. Across this trilogy, we'll see the impact on someone after a run-in with the titular Strangers, with those villains likewise to get their own backstories fleshed out.
