20 Most Controversial Scenes In Cinema History

7. Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)

efefef A horror anthology directed by John Landis, Twilight Zone: The Movie is a film shrouded in controversy. The sequence we are interested in is one where Vic Morrow's character finds himself back in a Vietnamese village. Morrow finds two abandoned Vietnamese children and attempts to escape with them while US helicopters are firing on them and explosions are going off all over the place. When the sequence was being filmed, the helicopter had problems navigating the pyrotechnics. It span out of control and landed on Morrow and the two children - Morrow and the little boy were decapitated, the little girl was crushed. It turned out that the children were working illegally under the table. The tragic incident led to criminal proceedings against Landis and other members of the film crew which lasted nearly a decade. Ultimately they were cleared of manslaughter charges in 1987 but the incident left a bad taste in Hollywood for many years.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
