20 Most Controversial Scenes In Cinema History

1. A Clockwork Orange (1971)

a clockwork orange A Clockwork Orange is filled to the brim with controversial scenes. There is the random stomping of an alcoholic bum and murder by giant dildo of a middle class woman. But the controversial scene that takes the biscuit is when Alex and his droogs stage a home invasion of writer F Alexander (Patrick Magee) and his wife played by Adrienne Corri. They beat the writer until he is crippled and then rape his wife. The rape scene is particularly controversial with Alex lustily singing 'Singing in the Rain' and cutting out breast shaped holes in the woman's jumpsuit. When the film was finished, Kubrick realised the power of the controversial scenes and banned the film himself lest anyone copycat the violence or hurt his family.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
