20 Most Controversially Violent Films Ever Made

17. Reservoir Dogs (1992)

tarantino orange reservoir dogs Tarantino's diamond heist gone wrong movie is notable for its amusing dialogue and extreme violence. Boasting an ensemble cast of impressively proficient actors, Reservoir Dogs is simultaneously amusing and repulsive. First we have the casual torture of Officer Nash, a policeman kidnapped by Mr Blonde - the psychopath of the group who does a merry jig and cuts Nash's ear off. He then douses him in petrol and tries to immolate him but he is shot by Mr Orange who is lying there half bled to death. Apparently Mr Blonde killed several civilians in the bank raid. Others return to the warehouse. Eddie kills Officer Nash. Hot debate ensues as to who is the informant. Everyone pulls their guns on each other. Joe shoots Mr Orange again. Mr While shoots and kills Joe. Eddie shoots and wounds Mr White and Mr White kills Eddie. A wounded Mr White crawls over to comfort Mr Orange who reveals he is the informant. Mr White pulls his gun on Mr Orange before the police come in and shoot him. At a Barcelona film festival, director Wes Craven reputedly walked out of a screening of Reservoir Dogs - there can be no greater compliment to the violence in the film than a walk out by the man who directed Last House on the Left!

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
