20 Most Critically Adored Films 2018 (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
8. Eighth Grade
Rating: 99%
Don't let the fact that it was made by a YouTuber put you off Eighth Grade, because Bo Burnham's comedy-drama about an eight-grader struggling with her identity and her place in the world while finishing the school year is profound and wonderful.
It's not afraid to invite us to cringe at the lead character - played brilliantly by Elsie Fisher - and its both refreshing honesty and the upgrade on John Hughes' films we all needed.
Sample Review:
"Fisher's performance is nothing short of cringeworthy (high praise in this case). Still, the real delight is Hamilton's equally ungainly dad, who grows up faster than any of the kids in the picture." - San Diego Reader
