This Palme d'Or winner from Hirokazu Kore-eda isn't exactly a picture of healthy family life, given that it's about a family's attempts to stay above water through crime, but it offers a compelling portrait of characters and there's comfort to be had in its embracing of outsider status.
They're not morally good people, but they're still good-hearted people and watching them exist in this sort of modern Oliver Twist world if very captivating.
