Though many fans were left crestfallen when it was confirmed that a third Ron Perlman-starring Hellboy film wasn't ever going to happen, the prospect of a gritty, R-rated reboot starring Stranger Things' David Harbour and directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones) is actually pretty damn enticing.

Harbour is clearly in great shape for the role (though his physique is apparently being enhanced by a prosthetic muscle-suit), but most important is the film's tone. It's a smart idea to make this Hellboy totally different to Guillermo del Toro's more goofy, family-friendly approach, such that they probably won't bear that much comparison.

With a supporting cast including Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich and Daniel Dae Kim, the new Hellboy also doesn't want for talent, and will hopefully be a scuzzy, low-key alternative to del Toro's more fantastical, operatic vision.
