6. Tokyo Gore Police (2008)

In a futuristic Japan, a man known as "Key Man" has spread a terrible virus that turns humans into grotesque beings called Engineers who spout weapons from any injury. A special task force has been set up to deal with them. They use violence, cruelty and executions to maintain order.

Tokyo Gore Police is quite simply a parade of bloodshed, samurai action, modern sci-fi horror mixed with campy over-the-top heroics and creepy characters popping in left and right. TGP is pretty much a gory circus of eye candy. There are so many surprises along the way, that the imaginative basis is mind boggling. To name a few; there is a girl who becomes an alligator from the waste down, another who sprays acid from her breasts, another who has attached swords to her severed limbs and even a villain who can shoot claws from guns mounted in his eye sockets.

This is a perfect example of a film that is entirely within its own multi-hyphenate genre. It defies description and categorisation and exists outside the box in a gory grey area of originality and brilliance. It may not be fully horror, but it's certainly a close relative.
