Release Date: July 22, 2016 Despite an awkward trailer that makes it look like something Kevin Reynolds might've helmed in the '90s, Star Trek Beyond is still a sequel that fans of the rebooted franchise are very much looking forward to - with or without writer/director J.J. Abrams at the helm. Star Trek Into Darkness was met with mostly positive reviews at the time of its release, you'll remember, and then there was a kind of backlash in its aftermath that has since convinced everyone that it's a terrible movie (not true: it's fluffy but undeniably exciting stuff). Star Trek Beyond appears to be taking a leaf out of that film's book, with the talented Justin Lin on directorial duties and none other than Simon Pegg having written the bloody screenplay.
