Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust is the Star Wars of exploitation films. The movie chops a smart and simple story into pieces, with gorgeous flyover shots of the Amazon river giving way to scenes of a brash young group of documentary film-makers fixing to hit the jungle in a search for cannibals. Though full of enthusiasm, these kids are douchebags, and you just know that things aren’t going to end well.

One of the group's first privileged sights upon entering the tangle is a tribal punishment for an adulterous woman (suspiciously Caucasian) involving rape, more rape, rape with a giant stone dildo, and finally a death blow delivered with clods of stone-laced clay shoved directly up the genitalia.

There's also an unsettling sequence that involves a forced abortion performed by fellow tribeswomen, who spike the snatched fetus into the riverbed like a football in the end zone. And let's not even get into the callous, systematic on-screen animal slaughter. Actually, the atrocities of this movie alone could probably dominate the entirety of this list.
