20 Most Outrageously Violent Movies Since 2000

1. A Serbian Film

If Ichi The Killer justly earned its reputation by exploring sadistic sexual perversion then the notoriety of A Serbian Film was earned through taking such perversions to their most extreme taboos - perhaps only Pier Paulo Pasolini's film Salo, Or 120 Days Of Sodom comes close to delivering such shockingly twisted scenes of sexual violence. From "newborn porn" through to incest, necrophilia and paedophilia, A Serbian Film is a film so dementedly twisted and abhorrent that most people avoid watching it in the first place, while those who are brave enough to give it a go frequently turn it off long before the credits role. Whether or not the film functions as an allegory for the horrific acts carried out during Serbia's civil war and unrest is open to debate. Director Sr‘an Spasojevi‡ said of his film, "It's about the monolithic power of leaders who hypnotise you to do things you don't want to do. You have to feel the violence to know what it's about." If there's one thing that A Serbian Film can be said to achieve effectively it is making on-screen violence an utterly repulsive thing to behold.
