20 Most Overrated Movies In The IMDb Top 250

16. Hachi: A Dog's Tale (#191)

The fact that Hachi: A Dog's Tale has found a place in the IMDb Top 250 is bizarre beyond belief. How such an obscure movie found its way into a list that thrives on "popular opinion" is somewhat confusing, but Hachi also happens to be such a bland and benign flick that it almost seems like it's been included on account of an error. This Richard Gere flick, which chronicles the relationship between him and his faithful mutt, is mushy as peas. The only explanation, really, is that a million children logged into the IMDb one day and up-voted Hachi: A Dog's Tale to such an extent that the site had no choice but to say, "All right, if that's what you want." This is, after all, a movie that was described by one critic as "a Hallmark greeting card," and one that employees absolutely every single tried and tested technique available for trying to tug at your heartstrings. Absolutely, this is an anomaly.
