Distracting incestuous undertones aside, Back To The Future is still one of the best family movies out there, as well as one of the finest examples of how time travel can make for invigorating (if plot hole-ridden) cinema. The film contains signature roles for Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, while director Robert Zemeckis shows off why he was once talked up as a successor to Steven Spielberg. It's the distilled cinematic magic that Zemeckis brings to Back To The Future that warrants those Spielberg comparisons. Few movies in the '80s blended comedy, science fiction and romantic drama with such skill, while even fewer movies from the time feel quite as inclusive. Back To The Future is the kind of film where the audience is along for the ride from start to stop, and they're guided by the ingenious pairing of a batsh*t-crazy Lloyd and the basically supernaturally endearing Fox.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
