The Moment: With Padme in hiding, it falls to Jar Jar Binks of all people to represent the Senate, and he's easily manipulated by Chancellor Palpatine into granting him emergency executive powers, which he then uses to create the Grand Army of the Republic.

Why It's So Ridiculous: Most adult Star Wars fans already had plenty of hate for Jar Jar Binks from The Phantom Menace, but the fact that he ultimately had such a pivotal hand in the series' overall plot only made him even more infuriating.

He was such an easy pawn in Palpatine's game and his vote caused such terrifying implications throughout the galaxy, especially the formation of the Empire and ultimately the destruction of Alderaan, which is probably the best reason of all to loathe him, really.
