18. Eddie Brock Wants God To Kill Peter Parker Spider-Man 3
The less said about Topher Graces existence in Spider-Man 3, the better. Its a well-known fact by now that director Sam Raimi didnt want Venom in his storyline he tended to draw from earlier source material so all efforts to write such a problematic character became hackneyed and stilted due to his status as a necessary evil within the script. The overreaction comes when Brock and Peter compete for a photo of black-Spider-Man. Brocks credit, he actually manages to get a photo, but Spider-Man destroys his camera. In response, he photoshops a photo of Spidey in a black suit and wins the coveted paid position at the Daily Bugle. Now, its at this point where things get nutty Peter quite rightly exposes his rival as a fraud and gets Brock sacked. This, coupled with Peters decision to take Brocks girlfriend Gwen Stacey who he has no real romantic intentions toward out for a meal, results in Brock praying for Peters death. I truly believe this belongs in the pantheon of comical overreactions yes, Peter exposed him, but not only was Brock acting like a colossal asshat, he was forging pictures a very serious crime in journalism, made all the stupider by Brock using his rivals own photos. Honestly, what did he expect? Instead of putting his hands up and admitting guilt, Brock just acts like hes totally been wronged, and invokes divine intervention to kill Parker. Being fair, God seems to reply by giving Brock the Venom Suit, implying the big kahuna is capable of overreacting too.
