20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2017

3. Gerald's Game

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%

Gerald's Game was the first-ever Stephen King adaptation to go straight to Netflix, which rightly made many King fans skeptical of its quality. After all, if a King adaptation can't get even a limited theatrical release, how good can it really be?

Well, Netflix changed the perception of straight-to-streaming releases in a major way this past year, and Gerald's Game was one of their finest Originals released through all of 2017.

Director Mike Flanagan did a fantastic job exploiting his minimalist premise and setting, in large part thanks to Carla Gugino's searing performance, resulting in one of the most critically-acclaimed King adaptations to date, regardless of delivery platform.
