20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2019
20. Hustlers (87%)
The marketing for Hustlers certainly did a great job presenting it as a sexy, slick, fun heist caper, but did anyone really expect that to translate to anything more than broadly positive reviews?
This had "three star movie" with a respectable 60-65% written all over it, and yet, with a stonking 87% and 7.3/10 average score, it was one of the best-reviewed wide release genre films of the entire year.
Off the back of these reviews, Hustlers even began to court awards buzz for its screenplay and Jennifer Lopez's performance in particular, with J-Lo subsequently landing a Golden Globes nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
If someone told you six months ago that any of this were true, you'd probably have laughed in their face.
