There are a lot of questionable elements in Duncan Jones' laughable Warcraft adaptation, but is there truly anything stranger than six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close appearing for a minute-long cameo as Alodi, an ancient mage who delivers a quick exposition dump and promptly disappears?

Close, who performed the part uncredited, is virtually unrecognisable under heavy makeup and CGI, so it's little surprise that many viewers didn't even realise it was her.

As for how Close, who typically eschews blockbuster fare, ended up in the movie? Jones said, "She knew I was a fan of hers and she likes my movies and was willing to come and do a day of work with us." Still, incredibly weird.
