8. Olga Gets Contorted - Suspiria

There's a fair argument to be made that Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria remake gets a tad too silly in its barmy climax, which comes complete with ugly-looking CGI exploding heads.

In fact, the most well-executed WTF moment in the film comes early on, when Soviet student Olga (Elena Fokina) quits the dance academy, but ends up trapped in a reflective room while Susie (Dakota Johnson) is invited to perform a dance elsewhere in the school.

Guadagnino masterfully cuts between Susie's increasingly erratic, even violent dance, and Olga losing control of her body as she's thrown around the reflective room, her bones being contorted past breaking point.

The scene ends with the school's matrons sinking meat hooks into her pretzel-like remains and carrying them off. Thanks to astonishingly good makeup effects, this scene lived up to the revolting brilliance of Dario Argento's classic original.
